Meet the Woman Behind the Mission!

As part of our July Kia Cares campaign, we had the privilege of sitting down with Taxie Lambert, Founder of 4EVR DEZ, the incredible nonprofit we're partnering with this month. In this interview, Taxie shares the heart behind 4EVR DEZ and their programs, Project Formal and Project Period, how these initiatives are changing lives for young women in our community, and how you can get involved.

"I dream of a day when every girl, no matter her background or story, has access to the resources , confidence, and support she needs to break cycles before they begin. I see 4EVR DEZ expanding far beyond donation drives and workshops - I see us changing lives, one heart at a time.," Taxie shared.

From collecting prom dresses to fighting period poverty, 4EVR DEZ is making sure every girl feels seen, supported, and celebrated - and we're honored to help shine a light on their mission. Read the full interview to hear her story and learn how you can be part of this movement.

The Story Behind 4EVR DEZ

Can you tell us the story behind 4EVR DEZ? (What inspired its creation, and what does the name mean to you?)

The name 4EVR DEZ carries the heartbeat of everything we do. It was created in memory of my first-born daughter, Desirea - a bright, beautiful young woman whose life was cut short far too soon. I didn't lose her to dating violence, but I carry the weight of what I didn't know back then. I didn't see the red flags. I didn't fully understand what love wasn't. And that's a silence I'll never live in again. Marrying my one and only boyfriend led to many years of domestic violence ultimately taking the life of Desirea.

4EVR DEZ was born from that pain - but it (that pain) lives in purpose. It's a promise that her name, her light, and her story will never be forgotten. Through 4EVR DEZ, we educate and empower teen girls so they can walk boldly, love safely, and know their worth - before someone convinces them otherwise. We give them tools, not just talk. We give them confidence, not just clothes.

With programs like Project Formal and Project Period, we're helping girls feel seen, supported, and strong - in and out of the classroom, with or without a crown. Desirea will forever be our why.  Her name is our mission. Her memory is our movement.

The Mission

For those who may be new to 4EVR DEZ, how would you describe your mission?

At 4EVR DEZ, our mission is to empower teen girls with confidence, awareness, and support - so they can recognize their worth, build healthy relationships, and break cycles before they begin.

We do this by creating safe, supportive spaces where girls can learn what love is - and what it's not. Through mentorship, education, and our signature programs like Project Formal and Project Period, we provide more than resources - we offer a community of truth, strength, and sisterhood.

We have your back and the community has ours! We believe empowered girls become strong women - and strong women change the world.
What are Project Formal and Project Period, and why are they so important to the community?

Project Formal and Project Period are two cornerstone movements at 4EVR DEZ - created to empower girls in real, tangible ways.

Project Formal provides free formal dresses and accessories to teen girls for proms and special events. But it's more than just a dress - it's about giving girls confidence, dignity, and a chance to shine without financial burden. A time for social interaction when we live in a world of smart phones.  Feeling beautiful and valued helps build the self-esteem they need to make healthy choices in all areas of life. When they can express and value themselves, girls make better choices!

Project Period addresses period poverty by supplying free menstrual products to girls who may otherwise go without. This simple support means girls don't have to miss school or feel ashamed because of their periods. Yes, girls are missing school in our area due to lack of feminine products! A study from 2023, shows 25% of students experienced period poverty and 44% felt stressed or embarrassed due to lack of access.  We have girls here in our community who are experiencing period poverty.
Our movements remove barriers so every girl can focus on her dreams and goals.

Together, these projects meet basic needs while uplifting girls emotionally and mentally - empowering them to stand strong, recognize their worth, and break cycles of neglect and silence. Both movements address mental health and well being.
Both movements  matter because when a community invests in its girls, it builds a foundation for safer, stronger futures for everyone.
What was the moment you knew this nonprofit needed to exist?

We've had several moments when our board knew this nonprofit needed to exist. With Project Formal , we are reminded when every girl steps in front of a mirror and sees their worth for the first time. We've witnessed girls cry, drop to their knees while looking at themselves in a mirror saying out loud "I am pretty." Girls walk into our trunk show dress giveaways reserved and timid but leave with their head held high and smiles from ear to ear.

With project period, we've heard from school counselors testifying girls taking our products and saying "these are the good ones." Something we women take for granted since under-resourced girls are equipped to accept the uncomfortable products or no products at all, which lead to unsanitary conditions that lead to infections.
School officials have witnessed girls missing class and even school in our community due to lack of product.

But at the heart of our mission is educating on healthy relationships. If I had known then as a teenager what I know now - what real love is, and what it isn't - maybe things would be different. Maybe my daughter, Desirea, would still be here.

That heartbreaking realization is what gave birth to 4EVR DEZ.  It's my way of turning pain into purpose - by making sure the next generation of girls learns what I didn't. We help them recognize the signs, trust their instincts, and stand in their worth before someone convinces them they don't have any. We open up discussions others feel shameful to discuss.

This work is personal. It's sacred.  It's a promise to my daughter, and to every girl still finding her voice:

How can people get involved - whether they want to donate, volunteer, or spread the word?

Your financial support helps us provide free formalwear, menstrual products, workshops, and life-saving education on healthy relationships. Every dollar makes an impact and helps us reach more girls.
Whether it’s sorting dresses, assembling period packs, helping at events, or mentoring teens, your time and presence can make all the difference.
Follow us on social media, share our mission, and start conversations about teen dating violence, period poverty, and self-worth. Awareness saves lives.
Partner with us through your school, business, or organization. Host a dress drive, hygiene product collection, or empowerment event in your community.

Whether you give, serve, or simply share — you’re helping change the story for a girl who deserves better.

What are your hopes for the future of 4EVR DEZ?

I dream of a day when every girl, no matter her background or story, has access to the resources , confidence, and support she needs to break cycles before they begin.
I see 4EVR DEZ expanding far beyond donation drives and workshops - I see us changing lives, one heart at a time.
Impact: I want to reach thousands of girls with real education around healthy relationships, red flags, consent, self-worth, and resilience. I want to help shift the culture - so fewer girls grow up settling for love that hurts.

A Brick-and-Mortar Boutique: A beautiful, welcoming space where girls can "shop" for formalwear at no cost, attend empowerment workshops, build vision boards, and connect with mentors who pour into their dreams.

A Mobile Empowerment Van: A boutique on wheels that brings dresses, period products, resources, and love directly into underserved schools and communities - because hope should never be out of reach.

Deepened Connection: I want to host more mother-daughter events, confidence camps, and teen summits where girls are not just seen - but heard, celebrated, and equipped to lead.

My greatest hope?
That 4EVR DEZ continues to grow into a movement that doesn't just respond to need - but interrupts generational silence, shatters shame, and reminds every girl:
You are worthy. You are powerful. And you deserve a future full of love that lifts, not love that hurts.
